With a degree in textile design, specialising in embroidery, Amy honed her hand embroidery skills taking classes here at the Hand & Lock School for Embroidery. Amy’s graduate collection had her recognised as a skilled practitioner by the Embroiderers Guild with her work then going on to be displayed as part of the Knitting and Stitching Show. Amy became a freelance embroider and embroidery technician at Birmingham City University shortly after graduating. She then joined Hand and Lock as a freelancer and tutor. Amy also currently works as Embroidery Technical Specialist at London College of Fashion as well as Birmingham City University where she teaches students all of their embroidery knowledge including digital and machine embroidery.

The first project Amy worked on straight after graduating was working on costumes for the Netflix show "The Crown" where she worked on the queen’s wedding veil in the show!

A quote from Amy: ‘Don't compare your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20’

Fun Fact about Amy: When I was 10 years old, I got to be a background actor in one episode of BBC's "Silent Witness" television show, where me and a class of other school kids had to pretend we were getting sick from an unknown illness. Does that mean I can say I started as a child actor?!
